Howard's timetable for return anywhere from 4-8 weeks
Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard updated the status of his right knee Sunday, citing a rehab timetable of six-to-eight weeks, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
However, Feigen also reported that Houston orthopedic surgeon Dr. Walt Lowe says the timetable is fluid and that Howard could be back in game action within four weeks – which was initially reported this week.
According to Feigen, there is no structural damage to the 29-year-old's knee and the worst case scenario for his return would be missing all of March. However, Lowe does not expect the worst case, as Howard is already rehabbing and engaged in workouts.
Howard has missed a career-high 19 games so far this season, 11 of which came earlier this season when the knee issue first cropped up.
The three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year underwent platelet-rich plasma therapy on his right knee in November and had an injection of marrow extracted from his hip into the knee last week.
