VIDEO: Anthony receives huge ovation, Gasols hug during All-Star intros
Madison Square Garden did right by its own Sunday, giving the lone New York Knicks player in the All-Star Game the biggest ovation of the night.
Carmelo Anthony was introduced last on his own turf, and the reception in his eighth All-Star appearance was surely the biggest of any he's received.
That's the crowd pop that Anthony is said to have been waiting for, struggling through left knee soreness that may see him shut down for the season shortly after the All-Star Break. Though Anthony has called saving himself for the All-Star Game an absurd idea, the weeks following the game will tell the story.
Surprisingly, Anthony's reception wasn't the most touching moment of the player introductions. It was brothers Marc Gasol and Pau Gasol getting introduced together as starters - the first brothers ever to start opposite each other in an All-Star Game - that led to the greatest hug in All-Star history.
They would hug again before Pau beat Marc in the opening tip-off.
It doesn't get sweeter than that.
