Report: Thunder, Nets discussing Lopez-Jackson trade

With the NBA's trade deadline mere hours away, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Brooklyn Nets are reportedly once again discussing a deal centered around Brook Lopez.

According to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, trade talks could hinge on whether the Nets believe Jackson would sign an extension in Brooklyn.

The 24-year-old point guard, who reportedly requested a pre-deadline trade Wednesday, is a pending restricted free agent, meaning the Thunder, the Nets or any other team Jackson ends up on before Thursday's deadline would have the right to match any offers for him.

Lopez, a former All-Star whose rise was derailed by injuries, has a player option for next season worth more than $16.7 million.

The two teams were reportedly close to a deal last month that would have sent Lopez to Oklahoma City in exchange for Kendrick Perkins and Jeremy Lamb. This iteration of the deal could see Jackson paired with Perkins and Perry Jones for Lopez in a trade that could also expand to include Jarrett Jack heading to the Thunder and a third team joining the transaction.

According to Wojnarowski, the deal could draw in the Philadelphia 76ers and be merged with a proposed trade involving the Nets and the Minnesota Timberwolves, which would net Brooklyn power forward Thaddeus Young while sending Kevin Garnett back to Minneapolis and Chase Budinger to Philly.

Bleacher Report's Howard Beck, however, later reported that the proposed trade remains a simple two-team deal between the Nets and Thunder.
