Report: Kings to sign John Stockton's son to 10-day contract
The Sacramento Kings will come out of the All-Star break with a new head coach, and 30 games to start to figure out what kind of team they are and want to be and are capable of being in the future.
They'll also have a new backup point guard, as Ramon Sessions was dealt to the Washington Wizards on Thursday in exchange for Andre Miller. With Miller likely needing a bit of time to settle in, the Kings are looking for short-term point guard help elsewhere.
According to ESPN's Marc Stein, they plan to sign David Stockton - son of all-time NBA assists leader John Stockton - to a 10-day contract.
In 31 games with the Kings' D-League affiliate, the Reno Bighorns, the 5-foot-11, 23-year-old Stockton has averaged 16.6 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.4 steals, while shooting 46 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from deep.
After going undrafted out of Gonzaga in this year's draft, Stockton played with the Phoenix Suns' Summer League squad, and later signed a camp deal with the Washington Wizards before being waived.
