Dragic, Johnson shine as Heat beat Suns in chippy affair
Goran Dragic was the center of attention going into Monday night's game between the Miami Heat and his old team, the Phoenix Suns.
By the end of Miami's 115-98 win, however, he had taken a backseat to some chippy play and a standout performance from rookie shooting guard Tyler Johnson, who posted a career-high 26 points.
Dragic scored 21 points but only dished out one assist against his old team, leaving the playmaking to backcourt mate Dwyane Wade, who dropped nine dimes with his 16 points.
The lightning rod Dragic also got a love tap from former teammate Markieff Morris, who was assessed a flagrant-2 and ejected. Dragic stayed down for a moment and briefly left the game, but returned. The chippy play continued when Hassan Whiteside and Alex Len went after each other under the basket, leading to both being ejected.
One fan in particular really seemed to enjoy the extracurriculars:
But the star of the night was Johnson, who dropped 26 points in 26 minutes on 10-of-13 shooting, adding four steals. It was a career night all around for the 22-year-old North Dakotan.
Miami continues to get contributions from unexpected places. The recently-signed Michael Beasley added 12 points and six rebounds.
