Wizards demolish Hornets, snap 9-game road losing streak
The Washington Wizards went into Charlotte on Monday night and snapped two streaks: the Hornets' five-game winning streak and their own nine-game road losing streak.
The Wizards never trailed, and held Charlotte to a season-low 69 points. The Hornets scored a laughable 23 points in the second half - and only nine in the fourth quarter - thanks to 32.5 percent shooting from the floor.
Marcin Gortat paced the Wizards with 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting, adding seven rebounds and two steals. John Wall had 15 points, five rebounds, nine assists, three steals and a block. Bradley Beal added 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Mo Williams and Al Jefferson were the only Hornets to show up. Williams had 19 points on an inefficient 6-of-18 from the floor, while Jefferson had 14 points.
Better late than never, we suppose.
The Wizards improve to 36-28, and sit two-and-a-half games behind the Toronto Raptors for fourth in the Eastern Conference.
The Hornets are 28-34 but remain in the hunt for one of the final two playoff spots in the East.
