Raptors select Delon Wright with the No. 20 pick in 2015 NBA Draft

Toronto Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri traded away a point guard with a reputation for being a notoriously horrid defender, and replaced him with a rookie who was one of the nation's top defenders at his position.

The Raptors selected Utah point guard Delon Wright with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft on Thursday night.

That pick came on the heels of Greivis Vasquez being sent packing to the Milwaukee Bucks for the No. 46 pick and a future first-round pick, according to multiple reports.

Age ain't nothing but a number. The Raptors are clearly among the teams unconcerned with the fact that Wright is already 23 years old, the biggest knock against him leading up to the draft. Age is generally an intrinsic - and negatively correlated - sign of upside, but it may confuse things in Wright's case, as he only played two years of NCAA ball.

In those two years, Wright showed he has the chops to be a backup guard at the pro level. Standing over 6-foot-5 with a 6-foot-7.5 wingspan, he has the measurements to play either guard spot, though he'll need to bulk up if he's going to see appreciable time at the two. As a point guard, he should contribute at both ends, standing as a traffic-funneling ball-hawk and leveraging an unorthodox driving style to draw fouls and create for others.
