Report: Thunder to evaluate Scott Brooks before committing to him for next season
The Oklahoma City Thunder are expected to evaluate their relationship with head coach Scott Brooks before committing to bringing him back for the last year of his contract, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
Brooks's contract is guaranteed for the 2015-16 season, and the Thunder hold a team option for 2016-17, according to Wojnarowski.
Oklahoma City is outside the Western Conference playoff picture for the first time in six seasons after finishing with a 45-37 record in a year in which star Kevin Durant missed much of the season.
With Durant entering the final year of his contract, general manager Sam Presti needs to determine whether Brooks is the person that can bring Oklahoma City a championship with a healthy roster.
Wojnarowski notes that Brooks is well-liked within the organization and has established many close relationships with management and players, but some have doubts about his job security.
Brooks was the NBA coach of the year in 2010 and guided Oklahoma City to the NBA Finals in 2012.
