Report: Knee injury to keep Mavs' Parsons out of 1st round
Things are going from bad to worse for the Dallas Mavericks.
The team is heading back home down 2-0 in their Western Conference quarterfinal against the rival Houston Rockets, Rajon Rondo appears to already have one foot out the door, and now it sounds like Chandler Parsons will not be available for the remainder of the first round.
Parsons returned from a six-game absence for Game 1, but re-aggravated the right knee injury that cost him the final stretch of the regular season, and sat out of Tuesday's Game 2 loss.
Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, citing league sources, reported Wednesday morning that Parsons's injury "will make his return in this first-round series impossible."
Parsons, who was signed away from Houston as a restricted free agent last summer, is an integral component of Dallas's potent attack - his 38-percent 3-point shooting adding another floor-spacing element.
Parsons averaged 15.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and a steal in more than 33 minutes per game during the regular season.
The Mavericks started veteran Richard Jefferson in Parsons's place at small forward on Tuesday, with the more defensively capable Al-Farouq Aminu logging 23 minutes off the bench.
