Report: Bulls, Dunleavy agree to 3-year, $14.4M deal

Mike Dunleavy recently expressed his desire to return to the Windy City. His wish was granted Wednesday, as the Chicago Bulls extended an offer to the 13-year veteran, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.

The deal, confirmed by Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, is worth $14.4 million over three years. The third year is partially guaranteed.

"I'm thrilled to be back. It's a really fair deal," the former Duke Blue Devil told the Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson. "I'm looking forward to playing for (Fred Hoiberg) and love our team."

Former head coach Tom Thibodeau, who is notorious for being allergic to playing young players, trusted Dunleavy over young wings Tony Snell and Doug McDermott. Hoiberg, the team's newly minted bench boss, will likely have no issues with the Bulls retaining Dunleavy, either.

Earlier this week, it was reported that LeBron James, wearing his general manager hat, was pushing for the Cleveland Cavaliers to land Dunleavy. The Cavs will have to look elsewhere now, though.

The 34-year-old averaged 10.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists over the last two seasons with the Bulls.
