Small forward Tobias Harris' bank account is about to get a lot fuller.
The 22-year-old restricted free agent has agreed to terms on a four-year, $64-million deal to remain a member of the Orlando Magic, reports RealmGM's Shams Charania.
In 68 appearances last season, Harris - who made approximately $6.5 million during his first four years in the NBA - averaged a career-high 17.1 points, plus 6.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists on 46.6 percent shooting from the field and 36.4 percent from 3-point range.
The Magic have a young core full of promise, with all their key players being under the age of 25. Re-signing Harris strengthens that group for the next four seasons as the team looks to qualify for its first postseason appearance since 2012.
Magic officials had a four-year, $80-million deal on the table for Paul Millsap, but the two-time NBA All-Star reportedly decided to return to the Atlanta Hawks for fewer years and less money - which may ultimately work out in Orlando's favor.
Harris is a far better fit in Orlando's lineup, having the ability to defend multiple positions, shoot from outside and take it to the rim. He's gotten progressively better each year he's been in the league, and at the ripe age of 22, he's nowhere near his prime.
Fans of the Magic should be excited about the direction the team is headed, with Harris headlining one of the NBA's up-and-coming squads. With Harris, Elfrid Payton, Aaron Gordon, Nikola Vucevic, Victor Oladipo and rookie Mario Hezonja, the Magic are going to be a fun League Pass team for the foreseeable future.
