Nuggets' Lawson arrested for 2nd DUI within a year
For the second time in 2015, Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to TMZ Sports.
Lawson was reportedly driving recklessly through Los Angeles at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday before getting pulled over by the authorities. Lawson was spotted at Le Jardin nightclub in Hollywood earlier Monday night.
The Nuggets confirmed they have been notified of "an incident" involving Lawson, but had no further comment Tuesday.
In January, Lawson was arrested and charged with DUI in Denver. He pleaded not guilty and a court date is set for this Friday.
Lawson also pleaded guilty to DUI and underage drinking charges while he attended the University of North Carolina in 2008. He was charged with driving under restraint and careless driving in 2012, according to the Denver Post.
Under California's penal code, a third conviction for DUI includes a fine, revocation of driver's license for three years and completion of a 30-month, multi-offender program to secure the return of the licence. It also includes 120 days in jail.
The 27-year-old Lawson is under contract with the Nuggets through 2017.
