Report: Rockets sign undrafted 360-pound center Joshua Smith
With big man Donatas Motiejunas still recovering from back surgery and unlikely to be cleared in time for the start of training camp, the Houston Rockets added another frontcourt body to their camp roster.
The Rockets reached an agreement with undrafted center Joshua Smith on Thursday, Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel reports.
Smith, who stands 6-foot-10 and weighs 360 pounds, got some summer-league run with the Miami Heat in Orlando, where he averaged 5.3 points and 3.8 rebounds across four games. The Heat were said to be interested in signing him to a training camp deal, but nothing materialized.
The 23-year-old had a five-year college career, playing his first three seasons at UCLA before transferring to Georgetown, where he averaged 11 points and 5.1 rebounds on 63.1 percent shooting during his two senior campaigns.
