Spurs' Duncan, Ginobili, Parker set NBA record for most wins by trio
Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili now stand atop the NBA's mountain of legendary trios.
With San Antonio's 95-87 victory over the Boston Celtics on Sunday, the Spurs' trio became the winningest threesome in league history, notching their 541st triumph together.
The win in Boston, poetically enough, moved the trio past legendary Celtics Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parish.
Rank | Team | Trio | Wins |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Spurs | Duncan-Parker-Ginobili | 541 |
2 | Celtics | McHale-Parish-Bird | 540 |
3 | Lakers | Abdul-Jabbar-Cooper-Johnson | 490 |
4 | Celtics | Jones-Jones-Russell | 468 |
5 | Celtics | Jones-Russell-Sanders | 463 |
Ginobili was the only member of the trio to score in double figures Sunday, finishing with 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Duncan added seven points, nine rebounds, and five assists, while Parker chipped in with six points.
The record-setting victory comes just over 13 years since the trio first played together.
LaMarcus Aldridge paced the Spurs on Sunday with 28 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists.
