Josh Howard plans to join D-League in hopes of NBA return
Josh Howard still hasn't given up hope of returning to the NBA.
The 35-year-old former All-Star, who's been out of the Association since 2012, plans to join the Development League, with the aim of ultimately securing an NBA contract, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports.
In addition, Howard is reportedly open to playing overseas, and is also expected to participate in the NBA's forthcoming Champions League, which will debut next summer.
Howard tried to get a training camp invite this summer, even working out at the Dallas Mavericks arena in late August, but came up empty. He played for the Austin Toros - the San Antonio Spurs' D-League affiliate - in 2013-14, but was waived after sustaining a season-ending injury.
Over his 10-year NBA career, Howard averaged 14.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and a steal in 30.3 minutes. He last played for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
