NBA fines Paul George $35K for criticizing refs
Indiana Pacers forward Paul George has been fined $35,000 for comments he made following Friday's game against the Brooklyn Nets, the league announced.
Despite getting the 104-97 victory, George was highly critical of the referees following the game, cursing them in an on-air television interview. He then continued to rip the officiating to reporters in the locker room.
The NBA fined George for public criticism of officiating and using profanity in a live TV interview.
"It's frustrating when the guys I'm matched up with have less fouls than I do and they're not attacking as much as I'm attacking," George told Nate Taylor of The Indianapolis Star. "It's very frustrating and it's been going on for a long time."
George had a solid game overall, putting up 23 points and 10 rebounds, but did register seven turnovers.
This is the second time that George has been fined for criticizing officials this season, after drawing a $10,000 penalty back in October's defeat to the Toronto Raptors.
After winning the Eastern Conference Player of the Month Award in November, George has seen his numbers fall off. For December, the 25-year-old has averaged 24.1 points while shooting under 40 percent from the field.
