Carmelo Anthony in light of Early shooting: NBA players 'are all targets'
Wednesday morning was a scary time for many NBA players following the news that Cleanthony Early of the New York Knicks had been shot in the leg after being the victim of an armed robbery.
Afterwards, Early's teammate Carmelo Anthony spoke about the dangers of being an NBA player, saying, "We all are targets, at the end of the day, regardless of how much love people show you."
It's the second time this month one of Anthony's teammates has been the victim of a crime, after Derrick Williams had $750,000 worth of jewelry stolen from him.
Anthony - who was featured in the NBA's anti-gun violence ad that aired during the Christmas Day games - added that there's always someone "who feels you shouldn’t be in the position that you’re in, that you shouldn’t be as blessed as you are."
Early and Anthony's former teammate, J.R. Smith, contributed his own thoughts to the situation, defending the 24-year-old Early being out late at a strip club:
Since when has it been a crime to have fun with ya girl? #GuessThatsWrongHuh?
