Anthony Davis doubtful Thursday vs. Kings with concussion

The New Orleans Pelicans' underwhelming season has largely been an extension of Anthony Davis' ongoing injury woes, and the outlook for both the struggling ball club and its franchise player doesn't look to be getting much brighter anytime soon.

New Orleans officially listed Davis as doubtful for Thursday's contest against the Sacramento Kings due to a concussion.

Davis was forced out of Monday's loss to the Houston Rockets after colliding with teammate Tyreke Evans while trying to secure a mid-air rebound, and was later diagnosed with concussion symptoms.

The 22-year-old has never played in more than 70 games in a single season throughout his four-year career, and has already missed a handful of games in the 2015-16 campaign.

Although the Pelicans (16-28) have won five of their last seven contests, they have being fighting an uphill battle since starting the season 1-11.

Coping with injuries to key cogs - most recently the short-term absence of Eric Gordon to a broken finger, and the long-term loss of Quincy Pondexter - and an inability to find the right on-court combinations in a disjointed roster has presented head coach Alvin Gentry a fair share of challenges thus far.

The Pels desperately need "The Brow" and his team-leading 22.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks to get back on the court if they're to make a midseason push from their current position of 12th place in the Western Conference to eighth - which, amazingly, still remains within New Orleans' reach.

New Orleans also listed Evans, who has been dealing with right knee pain since Monday, as questionable for Thursday's contest.
