Report: Lakers shopping Hibbert, Bass, Young, Williams
The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to clean house, starting with their glut of disappointing veterans.
Roy Hibbert, Brandon Bass, Nick Young, and Lou Williams have all been made available, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.
Williams, Bass, and Hibbert were brought in the past summer, and have all fallen far short of expectations.
Hibbert was supposed to bolster the Lakers' defense, but it ranks dead last in the league. Williams was purposed as a bench scorer, but the Lakers aren't exactly short on ball-dominant gunners. Bass has been serviceable, but he's only drawn 18 minutes per game in Byron Scott's head-scratching rotation.
Young, on the other hand, has been available since last summer, when the trigger-happy, easygoing swingman was put on the market in an effort to clear cap room. Unsurprisingly, he hasn't garnered much interest due in part to his horrid field-goal percentage (36.7 percent for the last two years) and the two additional guaranteed years on his contract.
Of the four, Bass figures to be the easiest target to move. He's a serviceable mid-range shooter and is owed just $3 million annually for this season and next. Williams has two more years on his deal at $7 million per year and Hibbert's $15.5-million per annum pact will finally come to an end this summer.
At 9-39, the Lakers are seemingly destined for yet another trip to the lottery. Their first-round selection for 2016, however, is only protected through picks 1-3, so they have plenty of incentive to keep losing.
