Nick Young would love to join a playoff team
Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Nick Young has only been to the playoffs twice over his nine-year career, and he misses the thrill of a postseason chase.
Young told Mark Medina of the Los Angles Daily News that he's not necessarily hoping for anything, but he'd love to join a contender.
"I would love to be on a playoff team and not just be sitting and watching," Young said. "I would love to be in a playoff atmosphere and be a part of it."
Young played a vital role during the Los Angeles Clippers' playoff run in 2012, but his tenure with their Staples Center cohabitants has yielded nothing but wasted seasons.
The Lakers have won just 27 percent of their games since 2013-14, when Young joined the club. This season, the Lakers boast the worst record in the Western Conference at 11-44.
Moreover, Young is hardly seeing the floor. He was benched for a two-week stretch in January, and is averaging just 15.2 minutes per game over his last four appearances.
Granted, Young hasn't exactly made the most of his opportunities in the scant minutes he's been given. Young is shooting a career-low 35.4 percent from the field to go along with a lackluster effort on defense. That, and the two more fully guaranteed seasons worth a total of $11 million, might be the biggest impediment to Young finding his way to a contender anytime soon.
