Rambis says he may eventually move Porzingis to small forward
Arguably the one saving grace of the New York Knicks' tumultuous season has been the surprising play of rookie phenom Kristaps Porzingis.
He collected three consecutive Rookie of the Month honors to begin his NBA career, but interim head coach Kurt Rambis says he plans to change how he uses the 7-foot-3 Latvian.
Knicks fans could "eventually see him at the 3-point spot" due to his athleticism and versatility, Rambis told Chris Herring of the Wall Street Journal, according to RealGM.com.
The potential move isn't likely to be well-received, as Porzingis currently creates a bigger mismatch against slow-footed power forwards who aren't as adept at covering a player away from the paint.
Rambis is also unhappy with the 20-year-old's recent shot selection, stating, "There are shots out there that he takes that I flat-out don't like."
Regardless of his usage, Rambis has said he thinks Porzingis is "going to be phenomenal."
