Former Rice leading scorer Marcus Evans follows head coach to VCU
Mike Rhoades is no longer the only one from last year's Rice team that has jumped ship to VCU.
The former Owls head coach clearly had a strong influence on his leading scorer last season, as sophomore guard Marcus Evans has committed to join Rhoades at VCU, according to Jeff Borzello of ESPN.
"Just feels right," Evans told Borzello on Monday. "Being home has always been a dream and looking forward to finishing what Rhoades, the rest of the staff, and I started."
Evans was regarded by many as one of the top transfers available on the market this offseason, as he averaged 19 points last season as a sophomore and 21.4 the year before as a freshman.
Per NCAA regulations, Evans will be required to sit out next season, with two years of eligibility remaining upon his return.
