Xavier guard Edmond Sumner left Thursday's game early in the first half against Villanova on a stretcher.
Sumner took a hard fall and landed awkwardly while driving to the basket.
"There is movement in his extremities, and he is being taken to the hospital now," the broadcast reported shortly after he was carried off.
After the game, coach Chris Mack said Sumner was "walking and talking," but had a "tremendous headache."
The freshman is averaging 11.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists for the Musketeers this season. Xavier suffered its first loss of the season without him, getting clobbered 95-64 by the Wildcats.
