LSU fan starts online fundraiser for Les Miles' buyout
It took one weekend of the 2016 season for the first disgruntled LSU fan to launch a "Fire Les Miles" campaign.
After an opening week 16-14 loss to Wisconsin at Lambeau Field, Tigers fan Andy Denicola created a GoFundMe page Saturday to raise money to cover the head coach's contract buyout.
Here's the scathing description Denicola posted on the page:
I am Andy Denicola and I have suffered through underperforming disappointing season after disappointing season under Les Miles. It's time for a change. Les Miles is a hard-headed, stubborn, unimaginative, dips--t. He has taken a remarkably talented team and been out coached, out schemed, under developed players and generally lead them to mediocrity over and over again.
Apparently our flagship university can't afford to buy him out of his contract. So I figured if we raised the money then they wouldn't have any excuse as to why we can't fire him. In the likely event that LSU will not accept the funds raised here, all monies will be donated to the Louisiana flood relief effort. Thank you for your support.
Denicola has a long way to go if he hopes to make a significant financial impact on a potential Miles buyout. If LSU fires the longtime coach before the end of the 2017 season, the school will owe him $12.9 million. Whether the Tigers keep losing or not, that figure's likely to keep Miles around for at least the next two seasons.
The Tigers face Jacksonville State on Saturday night.
