Georgia head coach Mark Richt is hopeful about Todd Gurley's status after the school applied to have the suspended running back reinstated.

"I'm optimistic," Richt told reporters Wednesday, according to the Macon Telegraph's Seth Emerson. "I think we as an institution and Todd as a student-athlete did everything within the protocol of the NCAA. ... So hopefully all will end well."

Georgia has a bye this week and will face Florida on Nov. 1.

Gurley was suspended indefinitely on Oct. 9 for an alleged violation of NCAA rules, reportedly involving the signing of memorabilia for money.
