ESPN poll reveals coaches want more teams in playoff

John David Mercer / USA TODAY Sports

An ESPN poll has revealed that more than 60 percent of FBS head coaches want more than four teams in the College Football Playoff, according to ESPN's Brett McMurphy.

While 29 percent of head coaches voted in favour of the current four-team playoff system, 44 percent said they wanted to see an eight-team playoff and 17 percent said they wanted the playoff to expand to 16 teams.

Most of the coaches in favor of an eight-team playoff said that conference champions from the Power 5 leagues should be included.

Of the 128 FBS head coaches, 103 participated in the ESPN.com poll.
