Florida State's Dalvin Cook named as an associate in assault case
Tallahassee police issued a news release Wednesday that lists Florida State running back Dalvin Cook as an associate in an ongoing aggravated assault investigation.
The investigation focuses on a July 17 incident when two men allegedly brandished a gun towards a neighbor. Cook's involvement in the alleged incident isn't known, but he wasn't named as a suspect by police, according to Mark Schlabach of ESPN, who cites Tallahassee police.
Cook, a freshman, is still expected to play for the No. 3 Seminoles in the Rose Bowl against Oregon on Jan. 1.
Cook rushed for 905 and eight touchdowns, while making 19 catches for 179 yards.
The news comes as part of hundreds of police reports released by Tallahassee police related to FSU athletes, after a freedom of information request.

Paula Lavigne, an ESPN reporter for the show "Outside the Lines," in September requested police records for the names of 360 FSU athletes, which produced 300 police reports TPD handed over to ESPN on Wednesday. The records include reports in which the names of athletes were listed as either a witness, victim, suspect or reporting party, according to TPD spokesman David Northway.
