Rousey still planning 'world domination,' coach says
Anyone hoping Ronda Rousey will throttle down her ambition is going to be sorely disappointed.
After meeting with Rousey and her team in Los Angeles, trainer and nutritionist Mike Dolce stated that she won't be competing at UFC 200 in July, and there is no date set for her next fight.
One thing he can say for sure, though, is that she's on a mission to once again be the best female mixed martial artist alive.
"We're planning Ronda's comeback and her world domination," Dolce told MMAjunkie. "That's really what it's about. The last loss Ronda suffered was in the 2008 Olympics, where she battled back and won a bronze medal. She has been undefeated since, all the way to November 2015."
Rousey's undefeated streak came to a definitive end at UFC 193 courtesy of a head kick from Holly Holm. She hasn't fought since, though she's remained one of the company's most visible stars, appearing on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and "Saturday Night Live."
The former women's bantamweight champion signed on for several film projects as well, but some appear to be in limbo. That might be a blessing in disguise for Rousey in the long run if she's serious about getting her belt back.
"She's extremely refocused, and the team is definitely moving forward," Dolce said. "We're all rowing in the right direction, and now it's just a matter of sitting back and waiting for the right time for her to step back in again."
Dana White has stated his preference to have Rousey challenge for the title whenever she ends her hiatus, though it's unclear who her opponent will be if current titleholder Miesha Tate is booked to defend her title in the meantime.
