Report: Josh Gordon failed NFL-administered drug test in March

Suspended Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon failed a league-administered drug test in March, sources told Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports.

Gordon's sample reportedly had trace amounts of marijuana, but was also diluted, which qualifies as a positive test. The situation could be holding up his petition for reinstatement, but it doesn't necessarily mean he'll miss another season.

The 24-year-old was suspended for all of 2015 after testing positive for alcohol while in the NFL's substance abuse program.

Commissioner Roger Goodell hasn't ruled on Gordon's reinstatement, and has no stringent parameters by which to make a decision.

"When these things happen, it's about trying to avoid them in the future," Goodell said of Gordon at the Super Bowl. "I'm hopeful that Josh understands that he's going to have to conduct himself differently going forward to be a member of the NFL and to be representing the Cleveland Browns or any team in the NFL."
