Top Options
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Carlos Gonzalez (COL) | at CIN | 9 |
Bryce Harper (WAS) | at MIA | 9 |
Giancarlo Stanton (MIA) | vs. WAS | 8 |
Jose Bautista (TOR) | at BAL | 8 |
Hunter Pence (SF) | vs. ARI | 8 |
The Rockies' hitter aren't usually hot commodities outside of Coors Field, but Gonzalez's two home runs and three RBI in six away games this season makes him the top option.
Stanton has three home runs and 10 RBI in a healthy 32 at-bats against Strasburg. Stanton's reduced cost is due to an alarming .205 batting average, but that shouldn't last too much longer. Nonetheless, he makes a terrific contrarian play in all formats.
Pence supplies speed on the bases as well as consistent production in the batter box, registering a hit in his last three games. With a modest cost and plus matchup, he's a superb cash game play.

Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Mark Trumbo (BAL) | vs. TOR | 7 |
Nelson Cruz (SEA) | at CLE | 7 |
George Springer (HOU) | at TEX | 7 |
Yoenis Cespedes (NYM) | at PHI | 7 |
Gregory Polanco (PIT) | at SD | 7 |
Jay Bruce (CIN) | vs. COL | 7 |
Jeremy Hazelbaker (STL) | vs. CHC | 7 |
The home runs will come for Cruz, who continues to provide fantasy value in other ways. He has six doubles to start the season and could be in for a big game, going 5-for-12 in his last three games.
Bruce's hot-start isn't likely to last, but DFS owners should pounce on the current streak.

NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Andrew McCutchen (PIT) | at SD | 6 |
Mookie Betts (BOS) | vs. TB | 6 |
Christian Yelich (MIA) | vs. WAS | 6 |
Adam Eaton (CWS) | vs. LAA | 6 |
Michael Saunders (TOR) | at BAL | 6 |
Ryan Braun (MIL) | at MIN | 6 |
Brock Holt (BOS) | vs. TB | 6 |
Mike Trout (LAA) | at CWS | 6 |
Betts started off the season slow but began to heat up against the Orioles, smashing out two homers and registering four RBI. With Rays' LHP Drew Smyly taking the mound in Boston on Tuesday, Betts' production could be hindered and should be used as a contrarian only.
Trout is ice cold to start the season, with just one home run and generating four RBI. He's gone 10-for-43 and is not worth paying up for in cash games but boasts upside in tournaments.

NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Adam Jones (BAL) | vs. TOR | 5 |
Lorenzo Cain (KC) | vs. DET | 5 |
Kole Calhoun (LAA) | at CWS | 5 |
Justin Upton (DET) | at KC | 5 |
Jacoby Ellsbury (NYY) | vs. OAK | 5 |
Kevin Pillar (TOR) | at BAL | 5 |
Before his previous two games against the Rangers where he went 3-for-10 with one homer and three RBI, Jones had just two hits in 15 at bats to go along with horrific counting stats. He faces Blue Jays' ace Marcus Stroman on Tuesday, which hinders his value.
Upton has hit just one home run so far and has failed to return his adequate cost thus far. Don't look into the three-hit performance Pillar turned in on Monday. He has slashed for .188/.235/.271 and is a high-risk high-reward play.

Nothing to See Here
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Brett Gardner (NYY) | vs. OAK | 4 |
Corey Dickerson (TB) | at BOS | 4 |
Miguel Sano (MIN) | vs. MIL | 3 |
BIlly Burns (OAK) | vs. NYY | 3 |
Curtis Granderson (NYM) | at PHI | 3 |
Billy Hamilton (CIN) | vs. COL | 2 |
Byron Buxton (MIN) | vs. MIL | 2 |
All of these outfielders have had rough starts and aren't worth taking a chance on.
