Kane brace gives Spurs star more goals than Aston Villa
Tottenham talisman Harry Kane scored his second on the day in the 71st minute Monday at Stoke City, and with the goal, now has more tallies this season than bottom-dwellers Aston Villa.
Let that sink in for a moment.
Kane, 22, overcame a slow start to the 2015-16 campaign with nary a goal in the first eight fixtures in all competitions before going on a rampant goal-scoring spree.
The England international now has 24 Premier League goals in 34 matches, two more than Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, and one more than relegation-bound Aston Villa.
Dele Alli matched his teammate Kane with a brace of his own, as Spurs benefited from a porous Stoke defence to bully the Potters on their own pitch.
With the victory, Spurs sit five points adrift of the table-topping Foxes with four matches to play, with Vardy watching from the sidelines for at least one match with a league-imposed ban for his red card and behaviour in Sunday's 2-2 draw with West Ham.
With less than a month to go, Tottenham, who finished fifth last season, and a Cinderalla Leicester City, who sat 14th, will battle for one of the most compelling title runs in English top-flight history.
Harry Kane, take a bow.
