Sunday's Catcher Value Rankings

Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

Here are theScore's catcher value rankings for Sunday's 15-game slate:

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

Name Opponent Value
Yasmani Grandal (LAD) at COL 9
Stephen Vogt (OAK) at TOR 9
Carlos Ruiz (PHI) at MIL 8
Miguel Montero (CHC) at CIN 8
Buster Posey (SF) vs. MIA 8

Since coming off the disabled list, Grandal has hit .400 with four doubles, four RBI and seven walks. He has struck out once in eight games. The lack of home runs keeps him from being too alluring on most nights, but he's been hitting sixth and hits from both sides of the plate. Vogt should be back in the lineup after sitting out Saturday. He's one of the best power options at catcher.

If Ruiz doesn't start, it will be Cameron Rupp behind the plate for Philadelphia. Both have provided decent value at a bargain rate all season. Looking to save but maintain some upside, roster one of them. Posey is elite, even if he hasn't quite played to his expectations, yet.

Mid-Tier Targets

Name Opponent Value
Francisco Cervelli (PIT) at ARI 7
Welington Castillo (ARI) vs. PIT 7
Wilson Ramos (WAS) vs. MIN 7
Salvador Perez (KC) vs. BAL 6
Yadier Molina (STL) at SD 6
Matt Wieters (BAL) at KC 6
Jonathan Lucroy (MIL) vs. PHI 5
Brian McCann (NYY) vs. TB 5
Yan Gomes (CLE) at DET 5
Derek Norris (SD) vs. STL 5

Cervelli and Molina have offered high batting averages with little else to show for it. Cervelli has been hitting in the heart of Pittsburgh's order, which will give him more shots at driving in runs. Castillo and Ramos have plus-power. Castillo has hit five home runs already. While that torrid pace won't continue, he's a good bargain option in tournaments.

Nothing to See Here

Name Opponent Value
Chris Iannetta (SEA) at LAA 4
J.T. Realmuto (MIA) at SF 3
A.J. Pierzynski (ATL) vs. NYM 3
Travis d'Arnaud (NYM) at ATL 3
Devin Mesoraco (CIN) vs. CHC 3
Christian Vazquez (BOS) at HOU 2
Russell Martin (TOR) vs. OAK 2
Hank Conger (TB) at NYY 2
Kurt Suzuki (MIN) at WAS 2
Carlos Perez (LAA) vs. SEA 1
Dioner Navarro (CWS) vs. TEX 1

Realmuto got Saturday off, but should be back in the Marlins' lineup on Sunday. He hasn't done much with the bat thus far and is only 1-for-14 in his last four games. He showed power in 2015, so the potential is there, but he has struggled too much to endorse with confidence.

Until they can prove their worth at the plate, avoid d'Arnaud, Mesoraco and Martin. Martin struck out three more times on Saturday to move his season's percentage up to 42.4. Something isn't right and he shouldn't be on any DFS rosters.
