Sunday's Shortstop Value Rankings
Here are theScore's shortstop value rankings for Sunday's 15-game slate:
Value Rankings

Top Options
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Carlos Correa (HOU) | vs. BOS | 8 |
Corey Seager (LAD) | at COL | 8 |
Trevor Story (COL) | vs. LAD | 8 |
Shortstop is thin once you get past the top options. Pay up to be safe. Correa may have cooled a bit since the opening week, but he's still hitting .286 with three home runs on the season. Seager is striking out only 12 percent of the time. It hasn't yet translated to a high batting average, but it will come. Story costs so much and a drop-off is imminent. He is also striking out at a whopping 38 percent clip.

Mid-Tier Targets
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Francisco Lindor (CLE) | at DET | 7 |
Jordy Mercer (PIT) | at ARI | 7 |
Zack Cozart (CIN) | vs. CHC | 6 |
Javier Baez (CHC) | at CIN | 6 |
Jimmy Rollins (CWS) | vs. TEX | 6 |
Alcides Escobar (KC) | vs. BAL | 6 |
Freddy Galvis (PHI) | at MIL | 6 |
Brandon Crawford (SF) | vs. MIA | 5 |
J.J. Hardy (BAL) | at KC | 5 |
Troy Tulowitzki (TOR) | vs. OAK | 5 |
Xander Bogaerts (BOS) | at HOU | 5 |
Elvis Andrus (TEX) | at CWS | 5 |
Marcus Semien (OAK) | at TOR | 5 |
Mercer has been an excellent mid-range option as his DFS salary has not increased by much. He typically hits at the bottom of Pittsburgh's lineup, which will limit his looks. If Baez plays, he's the best offensive option at shortstop for the Cubs. The problem is it's often difficult for Chicago to find an open slot.
Tulowitzki hit a pair of home runs on Saturday. While that's nice, he hasn't strung together many streaks in his time with Toronto, dating back to last summer. Be wary. At his salary, you should be paying for a sure thing. Bogaerts is risky because he was hit on the hand Friday night. He should play, but it might be best to wait and see on his status.

Nothing to See Here
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Jonathan Villar (MIL) | vs. PHI | 4 |
Adeiny Hechavarria (MIA) | at SF | 4 |
Addison Russell (CHC) | at CIN | 3 |
Brad Miller (TB) | at NYY | 3 |
Andrelton Simmons (LAA) | vs. SEA | 3 |
Alexei Ramirez (SD) | vs. STL | 2 |
Erick Aybar (ATL) | vs. NYM | 2 |
Ketel Marte (SEA) | at LAA | 2 |
This tier is full of mediocre to sub-par hitters. Villar has some power, but doesn't connect often enough and has dropped to the bottom of Milwaukee's batting order. Marte, for some reason, is priced way above his production on some sites. Even if he isn't, he's hitting .222 with no power.
