Report: Bosh has no plans to retire, intends to play in 2016-17

The Miami Heat could have their All-Star power forward back as soon as next season.

Despite suffering blood clots for the second time in as many years, Chris Bosh has no intentions to retire, and plans to play in 2016-17, The Miami Herald's Ethan Skolnick reports. However, while Bosh remains optimistic, he will still need the go ahead from the Heat to return to the court.

Miami has reportedly been the more cautious side, and won't necessarily allow Bosh to play even if an outside doctor clears him. Bosh has already received differing opinions from doctors, and the Heat are adamant he will not play while taking blood thinners. To counter, Bosh examined the possibility of playing under a different medication, but Miami halted that option as well.

The Georgia Tech product remains on the Heat's books for three more seasons, but Miami could receive salary-cap relief in 2017 should Bosh choose to retire this summer.

While Bosh is undoubtedly an integral part of the Heat's roster, Miami has performed well without the 11-time All-Star, taking a 2-0 lead in their first-round matchup with the Charlotte Hornets.
