Tuesday's Third Baseman Value Rankings
Here are theScore's third baseman value rankings for Tuesday, May 10 (all stats exclude Monday's games):
Value Rankings

Top Options
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Brandon Drury (ARI) | at COL | 9 |
Manny Machado (BAL) | at MIN | 9 |
Nolan Arenado (COL) | vs. ARI | 8 |
Josh Donaldson (TOR) | at SF | 8 |
On most DFS sites, Drury has eligibility to be safely rostered at both third base and outfield. With D-Backs corner outfielder David Peralta nursing a bruised forearm, Drury is in line to start in his place. He has four dingers and six RBIs over his last 10 outings and will benefit from hitting in the friendly confines of Coors Field.
When the Diamondbacks and Rockies square off for the second game in as many nights, their values will still remain at a premium. Despite a hefty price point, Arenado's upside is out-of-this-world.
Donaldson has been rather quiet of late, with just three hits in his last 17 at-bats. He is hitting awfully this month (.185) and has failed to hit a homer in seven games. A matchup against the woeful pitching of Giants righty Matt Cain could help him get back on track.
Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Adrian Beltre (TEX) | at CWS | 7 |
Jung Ho Kang (PIT) | at CIN | 7 |
Kyle Seager (SEA) | vs. TB | 7 |
Matt Carpenter (STL) | at LAA | 7 |
Nick Castellanos (DET) | at WAS | 7 |
Eugenio Suarez (CIN) | vs. PIT | 7 |
Kris Bryant (CHC) | vs. SD | 7 |
Beltre receives the top spot among the mid-tier players due to one of the best batter/pitcher matchup. White Sox southpaw Carlos Rodon will toe the rubber Tuesday and allows RHB to hit .271 compared to LHB hitting just .191.
Over his past 10 games, Seager has managed to raise his average 90 points and it now sits at .233. As his average continues to increase back to normality, he's a great play in all formats, especially cash games with a rather modest salary.
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Martin Prado (MIA) | vs. MIL | 6 |
Todd Frazier (CWS) | at TEX | 6 |
Eduardo Nunez (MIN) | vs. BAL | 6 |
Travis Shaw (BOS) | vs. OAK | 6 |
Matt Duffy (SF) | vs. TOR | 6 |
Jake Lamb (ARI) | at COL | 6 |
Prado went 4-for-5 on Saturday night and is hitting an astounding .396 this season. He has picked up four extra-base hits in his last ten outings as well as three RBIs. He doesn't have much to offer in terms of power-hitting, but he consistently registers hits.
If the aforementioned Peralta suits up Tuesday for the Diamondbacks against the Rockies, Lamb will likely sit. If Peralta remains out, Lamb should receive the start, albeit with a lefty taking the mound. He will likely bat fifth which will provide plenty of RBI opportunities at a cheap price.
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
David Wright (NYM) | at LAD | 5 |
Danny Valencia (OAK) | at BOS | 5 |
Derek Dietrich (MIA) | vs. MIL | 5 |
Christian Colon (KC) | at NYY | 5 |
Javier Baez (CHC) | vs. SD | 5 |
Evan Longoria (TB) | at SEA | 5 |
Miguel Sano (MIN) | vs. BAL | 5 |
Wright and Longoria play in two of the worst hitting ballparks. They have the upside to return their middling price points but are strictly tournament options.
Nothing to See Here
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Maikel Franco (PHI) | at ATL | 4 |
Justin Turner (LAD) | vs. NYM | 4 |
Anthony Rendon (WAS) | vs. DET | 3 |
Adonis Garcia (ATL) | vs. PHI | 3 |
Yunel Escobar (LAA) | vs. STL | 3 |
Aaron Hill (MIL) | at MIA | 3 |
Wilmer Flores (NYM) | at LAD | 2 |
Chris Coghlan (OAK) | at BOS | 2 |
With the bats in Philadelphia beginning to cool off, expect Franco's drought to continue a little while longer. Even with an absurdly low salary, he's still not worth risking a roster spot at such a talent-heavy position.
The Mets will send righty Jacob deGrom to the hill, leaving Turner in tough to return any type of value. With just one homer and six RBIs this season, fade him.
