Tuesday's First Baseman/DH Value Rankings

Brad Rempel / USA TODAY Sports

Here are theScore's first baseman/DH value rankings for Tuesday, May 10 (all stats exclude Monday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Chris Carter (MIL) at MIA 9
Jose Abreu (CWS) at TEX 9
Anthony Rizzo (CHC) vs. SD 9
Edwin Encarnacion (TOR) at SF 8
Byung Ho Park (MIN) vs. BAL 8
Justin Bour (MIA) vs. MIL 8
Pedro Alvarez (BAL) at MIN 8
Steve Pearce (TB) at SEA 8

Carter is enjoying by far his best season as a pro. He has a great matchup against LHP Adam Conley. Not only is his career OBP 40 points higher against lefties, but Conley relies heavily on the fastball. He has thrown the heater 69.1 percent of the time this season, and Carter has a 9.4 wFB (runs above average against fastballs) - the sixth best in all of baseball.

Pearce is a nice bargain in both tournaments and cash games. He has a career OPS against lefties of .838, compared to an OPS of .709 against righties. Expect him to bat in the middle of the order against mediocre LHP Wade Miley.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Eric Hosmer (KC) at NYY 7
Miguel Cabrera (DET) at WAS 7
Mark Reynolds (COL) vs. ARI 7
Joe Mauer (MIN) vs. BAL 7
Hyun Soo Kim (BAL) at MIN 7
Yonder Alonso (OAK) at BOS 6
Brandon Belt (SF) vs. TOR 6
Paul Goldschmidt (ARI) at COL 6
John Jaso (PIT) at CIN 6
Hanley Ramirez (BOS) vs. OAK 6
Ryan Howard (PHI) at ATL 5
Freddie Freeman (ATL) vs. PHI 5
David Ortiz (BOS) vs. OAK 5
Mike Napoli (CLE) at HOU 5
Chris Davis (BAL) at MIN 5
Carlos Santana (CLE) at HOU 5
Wil Myers (SD) at CHC 5
Jerry Sands (CWS) at TEX 5

Mauer hit leadoff for the first time in his career on Monday. Whether he hits 1, 2 or 3 on Tuesday, he's an adequate cash game option. His lack of power doesn't make him worth drafting in tournaments, but his .299 average and .420 OBP give him a very high floor.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Ryan Zimmerman (WAS) vs. DET 4
Adrian Gonzalez (LAD) vs. NYM 4
Joey Votto (CIN) vs. PIT 3
Albert Pujols (LAA) vs. STL 3
Mitch Moreland (TEX) vs. CWS 3
Prince Fielder (TEX) vs. CWS 2
Kendrys Morales (KC) at NYY 2
Lucas Duda (NYM) at LAD 2
Mark Teixeira (NYY) vs. KC 2
Billy Butler (OAK) at BOS 2
Tyler White (HOU) vs. CLE 2
Mark Canha (OAK) at BOS 1
Victor Martinez (DET) at WAS 1
Justin Smoak (TOR) at SF 1

If Bryce Harper keeps getting walked at a ridiculous rate, Zimmerman will have many RBI chances. However, the oft-injured slugger just can't seem to get the bat going. He has a meager .633 OPS this season.

No matter the circumstances, there's no reason to invest a good chunk of your salary in Mark Canha and his .122 average. It's baffling why a player with virtually no track record is priced so high in the first place.

Without the DH in the National League park, V-Mart and Smoak will likely come off the bench on Tuesday, therefore negating any sort of DFS value.
