Top Options
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Xander Bogaerts (BOS) | vs. OAK | 10 |
Javier Baez (CHC) | vs. SD | 10 |
Elvis Andrus (TEX) | vs. CWS | 10 |
Francisco Lindor (CLE) | at HOU | 10 |
Trevor Story (COL) | vs. ARI | 9 |
Manny Machado (BAL) | at MIN | 9 |
Carlos Correa (HOU) | vs. CLE | 8 |
Asdrubal Cabrera (NYM) | at LAD | 8 |
Bogaerts is easily the safest option out of the surprisingly deep shortstop position. He's been scorching hot in his last 10 games, and you can expect that will continue on Tuesday against LHP Sean Manaea, who has been roughed up in his first two big league starts. Bogaerts has a career .325 average against lefties, compared to a .269 average against righties in his career.
For those who can't afford one of the higher-priced shortstops can find some salary relief in Baez or Andrus. Baez is very easy on the pocketbook despite an .823 OPS this season. His only problem is getting his name on the lineup card consistently. Andrus on the other hand is enjoying a nice bounce back season, and will face a LHP on Tuesday (he hits LHP much better than RHP).
Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Marcus Semien (OAK) | at BOS | 7 |
Zack Cozart (CIN) | vs. PIT | 7 |
Aledmys Diaz (STL) | at LAA | 7 |
Addison Russell (CHC) | vs. SD | 7 |
Eduardo Nunez (MIN) | vs. BAL | 7 |
Jonathan Villar (MIL) | at MIA | 6 |
Jung Ho Kang (PIT) | at CIN | 6 |
Corey Seager (LAD) | vs. NYM | 6 |
Ketel Marte (SEA) | vs. TB | 5 |
Jimmy Rollins (CWS) | at TEX | 5 |
Jordy Mercer (PIT) | at CIN | 5 |
Adeiny Hechavarria (MIA) | vs. MIL | 5 |
Semien's eight home runs are the second most by any shortstop this season. However, his OBP is just .298, making him a tournament-only option. A chance of a big fly is helped by the Green Monster, as Semien is a right-handed hitter.

NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Troy Tulowitzki (TOR) | at SF | 4 |
Brad Miller (TB) | at SEA | 4 |
Alcides Escobar (KC) | at NYY | 3 |
Freddy Galvis (PHI) | at ATL | 3 |
Erick Aybar (ATL) | vs. PHI | 3 |
Jose Iglesias (DET) | at WAS | 3 |
Alexei Ramirez (SD) | at CHC | 2 |
Didi Gregorius (NYY) | vs. KC | 2 |
Brandon Crawford (SF) | vs. TOR | 2 |
Nick Ahmed (ARI) | at COL | 2 |
Even though he'll be in a more familiar environment and facing a pitcher he's seen plenty of times, it's still best to fade Tulowitzki on Tuesday. He has struck out 13 times and recorded just four hits in his last 10 games.
Escobar's free-swinging approach likely won't fare too well against Yankees ace Masahiro Tanaka. Due to elbow issues, Tanaka's fastball velocity is down, but he has reinvented himself as a junkballer. His wide assortment of effective off-speed pitches has led to success despite throwing his fastball just 29.3 percent of the time. He has an impressive 35/7 strikeout/walk ratio.
