Sunday's Catcher Value Rankings

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

Here are theScore's catcher value rankings for Sunday's 15-game slate (all stats exclude Saturday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

Name Opponent Value
Stephen Vogt (OAK) vs. NYY 8
Matt Wieters (BAL) at LAA 8
Steve Clevenger (SEA) at CIN 7

Vogt's splits are better against right-handers, and Michael Pineda's struggles make for an appealing matchup. Lefty-batting Clevenger could make for an under-the-radar option given how poor Alfredo Simon (10.34 ERA) has been.

Wieters has two straight multi-hit games, and could see a start at DH if he's not outright rested. It's unlikely he'll catch for a day game after a night game.

Mid-Tier Targets

Name Opponent Value
Brian McCann (NYY) vs. OAK 7
Bobby Wilson (TEX) at HOU 7
Buster Posey (SF) vs. CHC 7
Yan Gomes (CLE) at BOS 7
Juan Centeno (MIN) vs. TOR 7
Welington Castillo (ARI) at STL 7
Dustin Garneau (COL) at PIT 7
Francisco Cervelli (PIT) vs. COL 7
Salvador Perez (KC) at CWS 7
Miguel Montero (CHC) at SF 6
Jarrod Saltalamacchia (DET) vs. TB 6
Cameron Rupp (PHI) vs. ATL 6
Wilson Ramos (WAS) at MIA 6
Yasmani Grandal (LAD) at SD 6
Jonathan Lucroy (MIL) at NYM 6
Christian Bethancourt (SD) vs. LAD 6
Yadier Molina (STL) vs. ARI 6
Carlos Perez (LAA) vs. BAL 5
Rene Rivera (NYM) vs. MIL 5
Tyler Flowers (ATL) at PHI 5

Wilson has only been valuable on the two occasions he's hit a grand slam; Houston's Dallas Keuchel has allowed five home runs over his last three starts, for what it's worth.

In a small sample of 23 at-bats, Centeno is hitting .304 with a home run, and has three multi-hit games. At a minimum price, he's a decent option for those wishing to go cheap.

Nothing to See Here

Name Opponent Value
Jason Castro (HOU) vs. TEX 3
Russell Martin (TOR) at MIN 3
Jeff Mathis (MIA) vs. WAS 2
Hank Conger (TB) at DET 2

Martin's price continues to be at odds with his actual production, regardless of a favorable matchup.

The minimum-priced Mathis may draw a start with J.T. Realmuto having caught Saturday night, but he'll be overmatched against Max Scherzer.
