Pulisic highlights U.S. national team roster for Copa America
United States national team manager Jurgen Klinsmann announced Saturday the final 23-man roster for the 2016 Copa America Centenario, with Borussia Dortmund youngster Christian Pulisic making the cut in an otherwise unsurprising squad.
Pulisic earned his first chance at meaningful competition at the expense of Seattle Sounders hotshot Jordan Morris, who, despite scoring in four consecutive matches, did not make the final 23-man squad.
The team features plenty of established names, with Tim Howard, Michael Bradley, and Jermaine Jones receiving call-ups once again. Toronto FC forward Jozy Altidore misses out with a hamstring injury and is replaced by Chris Wondolowski up top.
Portland Timbers midfielder Darlington Nagbe, D.C. United central-defender Steve Birnbaum, and Sunderland full-back DeAndre Yedlin were also named to the final roster, but Omar Gonzalez and Matt Miazga did not make the cut.
The full roster below:
Goalkeepers: Tim Howard (Colorado Rapids), Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Ethan Horvath (Molde)
Defenders: DeAndre Yedlin (Sunderland), Steve Birnbaum (D.C. United), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Michael Orozco (Tijuana), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Timmy Chandler (Eintracht Frankfurt), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Monchengladbach)
