Monday's Outfielder Value Rankings
Here are theScore's outfielder value rankings for Monday, May 23 (all stats exclude Sunday's games):
Value Rankings

Top Options
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Cameron Maybin (DET) | vs. PHI | 8 |
Ichiro Suzuki (MIA) | vs. TB | 8 |
Robbie Grossman (MIN) | vs. KC | 8 |
Mike Trout (LAA) | at TEX | 7 |
Ian Desmond (TEX) | vs. LAA | 7 |
Dexter Fowler (CHC) | at STL | 7 |
Maybin has been incredibly hot since returning from the DL a week ago, and his price takes a hit thanks to a matchup with Vince Velasquez. He's still cheap enough to take a chance on.
If he draws another start in place of the day-to-day Christian Yelich, Ichiro represents great value due to his ability to get on base from the top of the order. He went 4-for-4 with a walk and a run scored Saturday.
The switch-hitting Grossman has four hits and two runs scored, including a home run, in two games since being called up.
Trout has a great matchup against volatile Texas lefty Derek Holland, but keep an eye on his status: he rolled an ankle Sunday and was removed from the game early.

Brandon Guyer (TB) | at MIA | 6 |
Odubel Herrera (PHI) | at DET | 6 |
Yasiel Puig (LAD) | vs. CIN | 6 |
Shawn O'Malley (SEA) | vs. OAK | 6 |
Nomar Mazara (TEX) | vs. LAA | 6 |
Desmond Jennings (TB) | at MIA | 6 |
Michael Conforto (NYM) | at WAS | 6 |
Kole Calhoun (LAA) | at TEX | 6 |
Jarrod Dyson (KC) | at MIN | 6 |
Billy Burns (OAK) | at SEA | 6 |
Coco Crisp (OAK) | at SEA | 6 |
Adam Duvall (CIN) | at LAD | 5 |
Justin Upton (DET) | vs. PHI | 5 |
Matt Holliday (STL) | vs. CHC | 5 |
Denard Span (SF) | vs. SD | 5 |
Piscotty's hitting .335 and has multi-hit games in three of his last four, but Chicago's John Lackey has largely pitched well and held the Cardinals scoreless in an earlier start.
O'Malley may be classified as an outfielder, but he's been filling in for the injured SS Ketel Marte.
Duvall has eight home runs, which, despite facing Clayton Kershaw, makes him somewhat palatable at a minimum salary of some sites.
Nothing to See Here
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Bryce Harper (WAS) | vs. NYM | 4 |
Miguel Sano (MIN) | vs. KC | 4 |
Melvin Upton Jr. (SD) | at SF | 3 |
Jay Bruce (CIN) | at LAD | 3 |
Curtis Granderson (NYM) | at WAS | 3 |
Jayson Werth (WAS) | vs. NYM | 3 |
Matt Kemp (SD) | at SF | 2 |
Giancarlo Stanton (MIA) | vs. TB | 2 |
Harper was walked four times in an encounter last week with Bartolo Colon, who he'll face again Monday. With just two home runs and five RBIs in May, he's rarely seeing pitches to hit, which makes it difficult to justify his premium DFS price.
Stanton has one home run in 14 games and no hits in his last five. He'll bust out of his slump in a big way eventually, but for now is way too expensive of a gamble.
