Adams: Green's kick to groin was 'pretty accurate'
For the second time in the Western Conference finals, Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams took a direct shot to his groin courtesy of Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green.
Midway through the second quarter of Sunday's Game 3, Green extended his leg after drawing a foul, and connected with Adams' manhood in the process. The 26-year-old All-Star was assessed a flagrant-1 foul on the play.
When asked about the incident after the Thunder's 133-105 victory over the reigning NBA champions at Chesapeake Energy Arena, Adams noted he "actually shed some tears" after receiving the low blow. He also mentioned he was in too much pain at the time to confront Green.
"I mean, it happened before. He's pretty accurate, that guy," Adams said of Green.
Cleveland Cavaliers reserve Dahntay Jones was suspended Sunday for one game for punching Toronto Raptors big man Bismack Biyombo down low during the dying seconds of Saturday's Game 3. As far as potential punishment being handed down by the league for Green, Adams would rather stay out of it.
"That's not my call, mate," Adams said.
Russell Westbrook, who just missed out on a triple-double with 30 points, 12 assists, and eight rebounds, believes Green isn't as innocent as he and teammates are making him out to be.
"Honestly, I think it was intentional," Westbrook said. "That's two times in the last two games."
The Thunder are now two wins away from reaching the NBA Finals for the second time in five years, owning a 2-1 series lead over Golden State.
