Top Options
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Matt Wieters (BAL) | at HOU | 9 |
Salvador Perez (KC) | at MIN | 8 |
Wilson Ramos (WAS) | vs. NYM | 8 |
Wieters has three straight multi-hit games and a sparkling 1.688 OPS with three doubles, two homers and five RBIs. Though many believe his best days are behind him, DFS owners should continue to roster his hot-bat until his price spikes.
In his most recent game against the Twins on Sunday, Perez went 5-for-5 and was a home run short of the cycle. His batting line has skyrocketed during his nine game hit-streak and sits at .270/.300/.480.
With the Mets sending the always-dominant southpaw Steven Matz to the mound, many DFS owners will elect to fade Ramos, who hits for a .304 average, one dinger and three RBIs against LHPs compared to a .347 average, three homers and 17 RBIs against RHPs. Nevertheless, Ramos is always returning value and is a dependable DFS play.
Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Welington Castillo (ARI) | at PIT | 7 |
Chris Herrmann (ARI) | at PIT | 7 |
Jonathan Lucroy (MIL) | at ATL | 7 |
Brian McCann (NYY) | vs. TOR | 7 |
Buster Posey (SF) | vs. SD | 7 |
Tommy Joseph (PHI) | at DET | 7 |
Stephen Vogt (OAK) | at SEA | 7 |
The Diamondbacks have been consistent offensively all season long and with a lack of reliable options at the catcher position, Castillo is a viable play in all formats on Wednesday, although he is splitting time with Herrmann. Whomever starts for Arizona can be confidently rostered.
Posey's erratic play to start the season has been out of character, but his high floor is extremely tough to ignore. He's batting just 9-for-37 with three doubles and one homer in his past 10 games.
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
J.T. Realmuto (MIA) | at TB | 6 |
Bobby Wilson (TEX) | vs. LAA | 6 |
Tony Wolters (COL) | at BOS | 6 |
Jason Castro (HOU) | vs. BAL | 6 |
Francisco Cervelli (PIT) | vs. ARI | 6 |
Christian Vazquez (BOS) | vs. COL | 6 |
Miguel Montero (CHC) | at STL | 6 |
Chris Iannetta (SEA) | vs. OAK | 6 |
Despite a slumping Giancarlo Stanton, Realmuto has still managed to safely reach base with a .324 OBP in his last 10 outings while only striking out five times. The opposing pitcher, Rays righty Matt Andriese, was knocked around in his third career MLB start and gave up four earned runs and one homer. His low-cost offers plenty of budget relief.
Though Castro is striking out at a career-high clip of 32.8%, his average has crept up more than 30 points by going 12-for-32 with a homer, three doubles and eight runs in his past nine games.
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Jarrod Saltalamacchia (DET) | vs. PHI | 5 |
Kurt Suzuki (MIN) | vs. KC | 5 |
Kevin Plawecki (NYM) | at WAS | 5 |
Derek Norris (SD) | at SF | 5 |
The Tigers' switch-hitting catcher was on fire to start the season, and has hit nine homers and 19 RBIs in 2016; however, his average is just five points above The Mendoza Line. He has just three hits in his last 23 at-bats, but his power to start the season is tough to ignore.
The Giants RHP Jake Peavy has been a prime DFS target thus far, so Norris' value increases a bit, but he's hitting just .173 with only four homers. He's strictly a tournament play.

A.J. Pierzynski (ATL) | vs. MIL | 4 |
Russell Martin (TOR) | at NYY | 4 |
Yasmani Grandal (LAD) | vs. CIN | 3 |
Carlos Ruiz (PHI) | at DET | 3 |
Dioner Navarro (CWS) | vs. CLE | 3 |
A.J. Ellis (LAD) | vs. CIN | 2 |
James McCann (DET) | vs. PHI | 2 |
Pierzynski and Martin have the highest floor among these players, but are enduring horrific slumps.
