Alicia Keys roasted for bizarre Champions League performance
Three weeks after crowning Leicester City the Premier League champ with a stirring pre-match performance at the King Power Stadium, Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli serenaded those in attendance at the San Siro ahead of Saturday's Champions League final.
While Bocelli's performance was captivating, including a dazzling version of the Champions League anthem while sporting Claudio Ranieri's best suit, the one that preceded it left a lot to be desired.
American chanteuse Alicia Keys kicked off the ceremonies with 2012's "Girl on Fire" followed by "Empire State of Mind" and some other song that had the 80,000 present reaching for their pillows. A girl may have been on fire, but that performance most certainly was not.
Naturally, pundits and fans alike on Twitter held nothing back in assessing Keys' efforts:
Champions League pre-game show in Milan by Alicia Keys ... a song about New York

'How was the game?'

'Well, it was a 3-3 thriller, but to be honest there weren't enough kids running about dressed in crisp packets.'
Come on then, someone cut Pardew into this dance act.

Both sides ready to warm-up & they're still dragging the opening ceremony tarpaulin & stage off the pitch ... what a waste of time

The Champions League opening ceremony looks like a Street Fighter cut scene

Genuine if silly question: this can't be good for playing surface, can it?

Imagine if the next Alicia Keys gig was delayed by five minutes because they were having a friendly between Yeovil and Grimsby on the stage.
