Here are theScore's catcher value rankings for Sunday, June 5 (all stats exclude Saturday's games):

Top Options
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
James McCann (DET) | vs. CWS | 9 |
Victor Martinez (DET) | vs. CWS | 9 |
Jonathan Lucroy (MIL) | at PHI | 8 |
Cameron Rupp (PHI) | vs. MIL | 8 |
In 144 career plate appearances against left-handed pitchers, McCann has slashed .299/.338/.530, hitting six of his nine career homers. He's very cheap, and with a homer and a triple in Friday's game, he has shown some occasional pop in his bat that could yield big results in tournament play.
Martinez has a ton of value in formats where he is still (erroneously) labeled as a catcher. V-Mart has hit .359 with three homers over his last 10 games, and has hit .433 off over White Sox lefty Jose Quintana in 30 plate appearances.

Stephen Vogt (OAK) | at HOU | 7 |
Matt Wieters (BAL) | vs. NYY | 7 |
Wilson Ramos (WAAS) | at CIN | 6 |
Chris Iannetta (SEA) | at TEX | 6 |
Bobby Wilson (TEX) | vs. SEA | 6 |
Derek Norris (SD) | vs. COL | 5 |
Evan Gattis (HOU) | vs. OAK | 5 |

J.T. Realmuto (MIA) | vs. NYM | 5 |
Austin Romine (NYY) | at BAL | 5 |
Tyler Flowers (ATL) | at LAD | 4 |
Blake Swihart (BOS) | vs. TOR | 4 |
Chris Herrmann (ARI) | at CHC | 4 |
Ever so slowly, Martin has started to turn his season around after a disastrous start. The Blue Jays' backstop is hitting just .192 on the season but a more palatable .242 over his last 10 games. He'll take on Red Sox lefty Eduardo Rodriguez in his second start of the season. Martin has a .359 OBP against lefties since joining Toronto prior to 2015.
Gattis has finally earned catcher eligibility on a number of sites. When he has donned the tools of ignorance in seven games this season, Gattis has hit .355 with four home runs. His price does not yet reflect his new role.

Carlos Perez (LAA) | at PIT | 1 |
Kevin Plawecki (NYM) | at MIA | 1 |
Salvador Perez is one of the pricier options on the slate despite a difficult matchup with Cleveland's ace, Corey Kluber. At the same price point, a mainstay like Lucroy with a less-established opposing pitcher presents far superior value.
