Here are theScore's shortstop value rankings for Sunday, June 5 (all stats exclude Saturday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Manny Machado (BAL) vs. NYY 10
Corey Seager (LAD) vs. ATL 9
Carlos Correa (HOU) vs. OAK 8
Francisco Lindor (CLE) vs. KC 8
Jose Iglesias (DET) vs. CWS 8

Lefties aren't Machado's bread and butter, though he does boast a higher batting average (.318) and OBP (.412) against LHPs in 2016. Machado has a higher slugging percentage against righties -- .620, versus .545 against LHPs -- so against southpaw CC Sabathia, Machado is a better play in cash game formats, where a handful of hits are more likely than home runs.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Xander Bogaerts (BOS) vs. TOR 7
Jonathan Villar (MIL) at PHI 7
Trea Turner (WAS) at CIN 7
Brandon Crawford (SF) at STL 6
Marcus Semien (OAK) at HOU 6
Darwin Barney (TOR) at BOS 6
Elvis Andrus (TEX) vs. SEA 5
Zach Cozart (CIN) vs. WAS 5
Alexei Ramirez (SD) vs. COL 5
Didi Gregorius (NYY) at BAL 4
Eduardo Escobar (MIN) vs. TB 4
Brad Miller (TB) at MIN 4
Adeiny Hechavarria (MIA) vs. NYM 4

Bogaerts does it all. His high batting average and on-base rates have been supplemented by a great power/speed combo; along with a spot high in the order of baseball's best offense, Bogaerts is playable in both cash and tournament formats, though SP Marco Estrada and his 2.43 ERA and 1.02 WHIP prevent him from being a top option on this slate.

Speaking of the Red Sox/Blue Jays game: Barney is a sneaky (and cheap) option at shortstop. The right-handed batter has been on a tear, hitting .344 while adding two doubles and a triple in his last 10 games, primarily seeing the field as a fill-in for injured All-Star Troy Tulowitzki. For what it's worth, in the six games Barney has played SS, he has hit .381.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Asdrubal Cabrera (NYM) at MIA 3
Jordy Mercer (PIT) vs. LAA 3
Freddy Galvis (PHI) vs. MIL 3
Trevor Story (COL) at SD 2
Addison Russell (CHC) vs. ARI 2
Alcides Escobar (KC) at CLE 2
Luis Sardinas (SEA) at TEX 2
Gregorio Petit (LAA) at PIT 1
Jimmy Rollins (CWS) at DET 1
Daniel Castro (ATL) at LAD 1
Nick Ahmed (ARI) at CHC 1

Behold: if you're looking for slap-hitters, injury fill-ins, struggling veterans and guys with bad splits, look no further. Especially Ahmed; he leads the pack, without a doubt, of shortstops you can live without.
