Report: Magic agree to 4-year, $72M deal with Biyombo
The Orlando Magic agreed to a four-year deal with free-agent center Bismack Biyombo.
The 23-year-old shot-blocker will receive $72 million over four years, The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Biyombo enjoyed a breakout campaign after signing with the Toronto Raptors. He played 82 games for the first time in his career and was a pivotal player for the Raptors in their postseason run that ended two games short of the Finals.
The Congolese center profiles as an elite defender and an improving threat on offense. He averaged nine points and 13 rebounds per 36 minutes last season, and posted the second-highest block percentage in the league.
Upon his arrival, Biyombo helped the Raptors improve their defensive rating from 25th to 11th in the league. He went so far as to say he would take a discount to remain in Toronto, but the Raptors handed out a max contract to DeMar DeRozan, which left no room for Biyombo.
The gregarious finger-wagger would be joining a Magic squad that has completely revamped its frontcourt by pairing Biyombo and Serge Ibaka to form an impenetrable set of rim-protectors.

How Orlando (the 21st-ranked offense) would manage to score is another matter altogether. Defenders routinely abandon Biyombo to supply help elsewhere.
