4-star QB Mac Jones spurns Kentucky for Alabama
Kentucky's loss appears to be Alabama's gain.
Four-star recruit Mac Jones announced Tuesday that he has rescinded his commitment to the Wildcats and instead will join the Crimson Tide.
The 17-year-old, playing high school football out of Jacksonville, Fla., will join Alabama's 2017 recruiting class. Jones reportedly had offers from Ole Miss, Cal, Arizona State, and Boston College among others, according to Sports Illustrated.
"I would like to thank the University of Kentucky for recruiting me," Jones wrote on Twitter. "However, an opportunity of a lifetime has presented itself to my family and me. I am happy to say I will continue my football and academic career at The University of Alabama. I am 100% committed, Roll Tide!"
Jones joins fellow four-star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in a 2017 class that ESPN has ranked second in the nation.
In response to Jones leaving the Wildcat program, Kentucky offensive coordinator and QB's coach Darin Hinshaw tweeted a quote by James E. Faust regarding taking responsibility for one's choices.
Jones appeared to take the tweet as an obvious personal shot, and wasted no time in posting a tweet of his own, which was quickly deleted but captured by Dan Lyons of Fox Sports.
Alabama's newest recruit surely won't be receiving any warm receptions in the state of Kentucky any time soon.
