Saturday's Shortstop Value Rankings

Scott Kane / USA TODAY Sports

Here are theScore's shortstop value rankings for Saturday, June 11 (all stats from Friday's games are excluded):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Jhonny Peralta (STL) at PIT 9
Manny Machado (BAL) at TOR 8
Trevor Story (COL) vs. SD 8
Xander Bogaerts (BOS) at MIN 8

Peralta returned with a bang, notching two doubles and a homer in his first two games back from injury. After sitting out most of Thursday (one pinch hit at-bat), Peralta battles a familiar foe in LHP Francisco Liriano. In 54 career at-bats against Liriano, Peralta has slashed .340/.462/585 with four homers.

Story's matchup against SP Erik Johnson should push his home run total to at least 17. In his first two starts, Johnson surrendered five homers in just 11 and 2/3 innings. Johnson will also be making his first start since May 23.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Ketel Marte (SEA) vs. TEX 7
Jonathan Villar (MIL) vs. NYM 7
Zack Cozart (CIN) vs. OAK 7
Eduardo Nunez (MIN) vs. BOS 6
Francisco Lindor (CLE) at LAA 6
Aledmys Diaz (STL) at PIT 6
Javier Baez (CHC) at ATL 6
Corey Seager (LAD) at SF 6

Villar's base-stealing ability should buoy his fantasy value all year long. However, his price has now risen to the top of the shortstop ranks. Unless he comes up with a big game, DFS players will likely be disappointed.

Lindor has cooled off of late, batting just .256 with no stolen bases through his last 10 games. However, his price has sunk to an attractive level and SP Matt Shoemaker has given up at least seven hits in three straight starts.

Seager's home run potential will be limited in AT&T Park. San Francisco SP Jeff Samardzija did, however, surrender four bombs in his previous outing.

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Elvis Andrus (TEX) at SEA 5
Alexei Ramirez (SD) at COL 5
Tim Anderson (CWS) vs. KC 5
Gregorio Petit (LAA) vs. CLE 5
Carlos Correa (HOU) at TB 5
Adeiny Hechavarria (MIA) at ARI 5
Brad Miller (TB) vs. HOU 5
Brandon Crawford (SF) vs. LAD 5
Darwin Barney (TOR) vs. BAL 5

Anderson is a nice tournament play, especially at the cheapest price possible. He hit ninth in Thursday's lineup and should be expected to do the same Friday. He can return strong value by getting on base and swiping a bag.

Correa is still listed as day-to-day and did not play Thursday. He is dealing with a left ankle sprain. Even if he were to suit up, a matchup against Chris Archer isn't too appealing.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Tim Beckham (TB) vs. HOU 4
Sean Rodriguez (PIT) vs. STL 4
Asdrubal Cabrera (NYM) at MIL 4
Tyler Saladino (CWS) vs. KC 4
Marcus Semien (OAK) at CIN 4
Jordy Mercer (PIT) vs. STL 4
Addison Russell (CHC) at ATL 3
Eduardo Escobar (MIN) vs. BOS 3
Alcides Escobar (KC) at CWS 3
Didi Gregorius (NYY) vs. DET 3
Jose Iglesias (DET) at NYY 3

Russell is hitting a meager .130 with an OBP of .167 through the first seven games of June. The strength of Chicago's lineup won't save him right now.

Gregorius and Iglesias will be in tough against top-end starters Justin Verlander and Masahiro Tanaka.
