Guy Fieri convinced Jack Del Rio to join Twitter
Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio is finally on Twitter, and it's all thanks to a certain spiky-haired culinary personality.
Del Rio told Nina Mandell of For The Win that Guy Fieri, who hosts the popular Food Network series "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives," was the primary reason he joined Twitter.
"We were at a fundraising event at the Fox Theater (with) Metallica's lead singer James Hetfield, Sam Hagar, John Mayer - it was really a star-studded group," Del Rio recalled. "So we're sitting there and we're watching the show and Guy said, 'Hey, why don't you give me your handle,' and I said, 'Handle of what, what do you want?' And he said 'C'mon, you have to be on Twitter, give me your Twitter handle,' and I wasn't at the time and we started talking and he really did make an impression on me.
"So I started thinking deeper about would it make sense ... like I said my family and my kids have been telling me for years (to get on it) and anyways here we are."
Del Rio currently follows 63 people on Twitter, one of course being Fieri. One of his first tweets was this photo he shared of the two of them:
