NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Mookie Betts (BOS) | at MIN | 10 |
Kris Bryant (CHC) | at ATL | 9 |
Ian Desmond (TEX) | at SEA | 9 |
Dexter Fowler (CHC) | at ATL | 8 |
Gregory Polanco (PIT) | vs. STL | 8 |
Adam Jones (BAL) | at TOR | 8 |
Cameron Maybin (DET) | at NYY | 8 |
Trayce Thompson (LAD) | at SF | 8 |
Betts will never be cheap in DFS again, and with good reason. He so very rarely misses the mark. Sure, he only hit a pair of singles on Wednesday, but then he stole two bases. The lofty salary will scare people away, but he is too consistently explosive to ignore.
Bryant and Desmond are not a whole lot cheaper, but Bryant has demonstrated reverse splits since he debuted a year ago with the bulk of his success coming against RHPs. Desmond faces Mariners LHP James Paxton and the former SS has crushed lefties to the tune of .381/.418/.619 splits. Make sure one of these two is rostered.
Jones has finally turned his season around with four homers over his last 10 games. He has struggled with LHPs this season, which may be why his salary isn't prohibitively high. Because of those struggles, keep him rostered in tournaments against Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ.
Maybin and Thompson are options to provide some salary relief when rostering some of the pricier options. Maybin is hitting .419 through 74 at-bats with as many walks as strikeouts. He has limited power, but his speed gives him added value. Thompson has three solo home runs over his last 10 and three stolen bases. Don't go with both, but one will provide a solid savings.
Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Nelson Cruz (SEA) | vs. TEX | 7 |
Mike Trout (LAA) | vs. CLE | 7 |
Kole Calhoun (LAA) | vs. CLE | 7 |
Mark Trumbo (BAL) | at TOR | 7 |
Jay Bruce (CIN) | vs. OAK | 7 |
Stephen Piscotty (STL) | at PIT | 7 |
Jackie Bradley Jr. (BOS) | at MIN | 7 |
Michael Saunders (TOR) | vs. BAL | 7 |
Jason Heyward (CHC) | at ATL | 7 |
Chris Young (BOS) | at MIN | 7 |
Andrew McCutchen (PIT) | vs. STL | 7 |
McCutchen is struggling, hitting only .216 with 12 Ks over his last 10 games. He hasn't hit a home run since May 27. Still, his salary has dropped considerably on some sites making him a good contrarian pick in GPPs. He has to do much less than normal to return value.
Bradley has likewise struggled of late, further cementing his reputation as a streaky hitter. Like McCutchen, his salary has receded making him an appealing GPP choice because of his high ceiling and favorable matchup against Twins RHP Kyle Gibson. Teammate Young is also very affordable, and has been on a productive streak of late. Use him in cash games.
Piscotty hasn't exactly lived up to his early season numbers, but one thing he has done with consistency is terrorize LHPs. He's slashing .396/.515/.642 against lefties and will get struggling southpaw Francisco Liriano on Saturday. He'll start barring injury or odd lineup changes and should be active in all DFS formats.

Adam Eaton (CWS) | vs. KC | 6 |
J.D. Martinez (DET) | at NYY | 6 |
George Springer (HOU) | at TB | 6 |
Charlie Blackmon (COL) | vs. SD | 6 |
Christian Yelich (MIA) | at ARI | 6 |
Michael Conforto (NYM) | at MIL | 6 |
Lorenzo Cain (KC) | at CWS | 6 |
Jacoby Ellsbury (NYY) | v. DET | 6 |
Kevin Pillar (TOR) | vs. BAL | 6 |
Melky Cabrera (CWS) | vs. KC | 6 |
Seth Smith (SEA) | vs. TEX | 6 |
Robbie Grossman (MIN) | vs. BOS | 6 |
Joc Pederson (LAD) | at SF | 6 |
Yelich hasn't quite found his power stroke again, but he is working on a modest nine-game hitting streak. Five of those games have included multiple hits. Yelich is the steadiest, most consistent member of the Marlins outfield.

Gerardo Parra (COL) | vs. SD | 5 |
Ryan Braun (MIL) | vs. NYM | 5 |
Adam Duvall (CIN) | vs. OAK | 5 |
Marcell Ozuna (MIA) | at ARI | 5 |
Starling Marte (PIT) | vs. STL | 5 |
Nomar Mazara (TEX) | at SEA | 5 |
Matt Holliday (STL) | at PIT | 5 |
Steven Souza Jr. (TB) | vs. HOU | 5 |
Brett Gardner (NYY) | vs. DET | 5 |
Justin Upton (DET) | at NYY | 5 |
Corey Dickerson (TB) | vs. HOU | 5 |
Carlos Gomez (HOU) | at TB | 5 |
Ozuna gets dropped down a peg because his hot streak has most definitely ended though his salary remains fairly high. While his ceiling is still high, but he's not coming close to it as often. He's also slightly less appealing with RHP Zack Godley on the mound for Arizona. Duvall's price tag reflects his mega power surge, but unless he goes yard he's not returning value.
Dickerson is purely a GPP play because of his power upside - two home runs on Wednesday - but he's gone many games without sniffing a hit. He's boom-or-bust personified. Mazara, though a small sample, has handled lefties well. At his salary, it's still too early to tell if it's a trend, and if he goes bust that's not a good look, especially in cash games.

Billy Burns (OAK) | at CIN | 3 |
Whit Merrifield (KC) | at CWS | 2 |
Alejandro De Aza (NYM) | at MIL | 2 |
Yoenis Cespedes (NYM) | at MIL | 2 |
Billy Hamilton (CIN) | vs. OAK | 2 |
Brandon Moss (STL) | at PIT | 2 |
Kirk Nieuwenhuis (MIL) | vs. NYM | 2 |
Moss might not even start despite his recent stretch of production. He's a splits-play. Use him when there is a righty on the mound and stay away when it's a lefty like Liriano on Saturday. To roster Kemp, you're pouring a lot of your budget into him. And while Coors Field has the hitter's advantage, Rockies SP Tyler Chatwood has a 0.70 HR/9, though all six dingers have come at home.
Davis, Bautista and Hamilton are all either nursing injuries or have just recently returned. Avoid them even if they start.
